About this event
The European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) is organising #ERUAiDeaThon2026, which runs from October to 10 December 2026, with final presentations on 9–10 December 2026. It is part of the ERUA Challenge-to-Impact Initiative: Future Learning and Student Experience, jointly organised by Work Package 5 (led by the University of the Aegean) and Work Package 6 (led by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), and is open to the whole ERUA community.
The initiative invites students, academic staff and regional stakeholders from the eight ERUA universities and their regions to develop innovative social entrepreneurship ideas that address real societal challenges. By drawing on the shared knowledge, skills and resources of the alliance, it aims to turn academic expertise and regional needs into inclusive, sustainable and viable solutions.
Participants first select one of ERUA's five thematic areas – Migration, Exile and Refugees; Democracy and Human Rights, Inclusion and Gender Equality; Environmental Transition; Interculturality and Multilingualism; Arts and Edges – and then identify a specific challenge within it, from the ERUA challenge inventory (Attachment 1) or from other needs in their own region.
A fully developed solution, prototype or business plan is not required at this stage. What matters is a clear concept, its expected benefits for society and a credible path for further development. The three highest-ranked ideas receive awards of €5,000, €3,000 and €1,000 for eligible expenses, and selected ideas progress to the ERUA Bootcamp (Las Palmas) and the ERUA Hackathon 2027 (Lesvos).
